See Appendix A.The number of patients was summarized according to a 1-hr time interval of its reaching to the ER. Frequency distribution, time series and regression abridgment were created to determine the trend. See Appendix B.The wait time in minutes was summarized according to a 4-hr interval of the patients arrival. See Appendix C. The 4-hr interval is also identify as the 4-hr work shift of nurses. The distribution of average wait time per month was made to identify the volume of patients having a long wait time in the 4-hr work shift. Analysis of variance was conducted t o determine if there are any significant differences between them with respect to mean waiting time. The treatment time in minutes was also summarized according to a 4-hr time interval of nurses work shift. The treatment time is the average time needed by the nurses to care for patients with respect to its urgency according to the triage number. The distribution of total treatment time per month was made to identify the volume of nurses time in the 4-hr work shift. systema skeletale 1 shows the frequency distribution of the number of patients arriving per month on a 1-hr... Figure 2 shows the time series of the patients arriving per day on a 1-hr time interval. There is a seasonal trend identified per day which further confirms the observation from the frequency diagram.A single factor analysis of variance was conducted development Microsoft Excel Add-In. The results in Table 1 show that the F-value is smaller than the F critical and the P-value is relatively large. The null hypothe sis stating that all means of patient arrival per month is equal and there is no statistical differences between the monthly data. This concurs that the data of patients per month can be summarized into a 24 hr patient arrival behavior.Table 1. Outline How Material Things Essay Example for Free
Outline How Material Things EssayThis essay will outline how corporeal things on City Road save the activities of some groups of mountain over others by looking at Ethnicity, Class and Gender. City Road is a big road filled with lots of incompatible cultures, gender, class, age and history. When walking down the road it can be seen that the belonging and not belonging in the society. It opens your eyes as to what exactly goes on in unlike societies and City Road is a big street with a lot of demands and structures in it. Over the years society changed and so did the street. It goes by what is in demand, how society changes and by the vast majority of different cultures coming into the welkin. You see a lot of people try to conform to the society and many trying to hold onto their own identities. First of all Im going to talk about the Ethnicity on the street. We are going to the Xquisite Africa shop. Janet, the lady that owns the shop originates from Africa and go to the U K over ten years ago. When she came to the UK she thought that she had to change her identity and conform to the society. She sells a lot of things from Africa and by doing this she gets to hold onto her identity of the African culture and also appeals to customers from the same ethnic cathode-ray oscilloscope. She felt after being in the UK for ten years that she had lost her identity and so she decided to take a miscue back home to Africa to re-charge her batteries as she puts it. She wanted to re-gain her culture that she so desperately lost. This aspect could help her re-gain her culture and identity and allows her to package this with the right clientele from a multi-racial background. She can share a state of belonging to a social group that has in common a national or cultural background, whilst negotiating with people on the complex of different identities. She contributes to the African social life and society as well as on City Road. Therefore promoting her African backg round and understanding there is no need to conform to the society and changing her identity. We then move onto class in the Municipal Club. A social stratum, whose members share a certain economic, social or cultural characteristics. For this instance the working class. It is aimed at the local residents and has over 100 years of history.A group containing members regarded as having certain attributes of traits in common has slowly disappeared and they long for the society to change back to what they believed it was. Whilst in the (DVD, Making social lives on City Road, 2009, scene 5) Lloyd Robson talks to couple of residents in the club and gets their insight of what is going on. He asked them if they thought the club had a future. They said no. no-one wants to know it anymore and even the members provoke started to lose interest. But because the society has changed it meant that they described city road as being dangerous and rough. They long for the past. They want it to go bac k to what they say it employ to be or imagined it. The inequalities and differences that has changed and also the traditions has been lost. They lack the sense of belonging they used to have when City Road used to be theirs. Then we come crossways the Sanna Silk shop. This is where the female is favoured over the male. Its a family business orientated around females as they sell and make dresses of different materials. They get to choose their type of material and their patterns. It is mainly focused at Asian women. In the (DVD, Making social lives on City Road, 2009, scene 6 by Raghuran) she says it is a very different way of portraying Asian women than I often seen in the media. They also have a section for jewellery. Most of their jewellery is 22 carat halcyon and is mainly aimed at the women. They also have a selection for their wedding day. So it has an Asian culture that is even though yes men go in to buy but is very female orientated. Conclusion Therefore in City Road, my examples favour female gender activities over male, is a very multi-racial area and favours specific class over others. Therefore explaining that society changes all of the time and conforms to whatever is more in demand in that specific time of era.

History of Security in the United States Essay Example for Free
History of pledge in the United States Essay nonfigurativeSecurity in America has evolved from the time of the first settlers to todays well-trained forces. Factors leading to the significant growth of clannish certificate from pre-Civil War to post valet War II consisted of a lack of national practice of law and large monetary loss by hush-hush constancy. Today, guarantor is global and faces challenges and changes, with increases in terrorist act and technology crimes. It must maintain a high level of professionalism and maintain technological innovation catch ones breath a respected industry. History of Security in the United StatesNineteenth CenturyThe nineteenth century saw the private security industry fill in many of the gaps left by public law enforcement in both manpower and ingenuity. The development of public police forces was slow in the infancy of the United States. In the latter half of the 1800s, police departments were fragmented, de rudimentaryized and often corrupt, creating a need for private security. The American frontier saw an extreme shortage of law enforcement, as they had to lag to deputizing civilians and forming posses. Citizens often had to resort to vigilante justice delinquent to a lack of law enforcement. In 1850, Henry Wells and William Fargo established American Express and Wells Fargo cargo companies and in 1851 Allen Pinkerton established the first national private security and investigations service (Ortmeirer, 2009, pg. 10).Pinkerton provided security and investigative service to the railroad, offered private detective services and was actually the intelligence outgrowth of the Union Army during the first half of the Civil War. In 1853 August Perry patented the first burglar alarm followed by Edwin Holmes in 1858, who produced the first central station burglar alarm. That same year, Washington Perry Brinks introduced the armored carriage for the transportation of valuables and money (Ortmeirer, 2009, pg. 10 ).Twentieth CenturyThe quelling of labor unrest brought about a poor reputation to private security leading up to the Great Depression. Decades earlier, industries such as manufacturing, transportation and mining turned to agencies like Pinkerton for not barely asset protection, hardly also to combat labor violence and break strikes. There were numerous violent consequents involving strikes resulting in civilian injury, deaths and job losses. One incident in particular was the Homestead Strike of 1892 in Pennsylvania, which culminated in a gun battle between Pinkerton agents and the strikers (Lipson, 1988). Incidents such as this eventually led to private security being viewed as Knights of Capitalism by the public. Security companies were banned from carrying weapons and crossing state lines to break strikes in some states (Joh, 2006). There was a go under in the physical exercise of private security during the Great Depression. According to The HUB, There seems to be some co ntroversy as to when the first proprietary security forces arose, but many sources attribute Henry Ford as the man who refined in house security to factory work.As the automobile gained popularity so the industries providing the necessity materials for the factories producing them across the nation needed and utilized private security personnel. With the high unemployment and possibility of crime due to the Great Depression, private security further imbed itself within industry (Hub pages, http//dyonder.hubpages.com/hub/The-History-of-Private-Security). There was an expansion of private security leading up to and during World War II due to infrastructure, military and industrial security concerns. Post World War II saw an increase in the professionalism of private security, as returning veterans with military police experience began to seek employment in the security industry. Anti-espionage procedures established by the government during World War II carried over into the Cold Wa r era, with the government insisting on a quality security force and plans, to protect defense contractors and government assets. The private security industry followed the governments lead, thus entering the era of the security manager (Hub pages, http//dyonder.hubpages.com/hub/The-History-of-Private-Security). The security industry increased in size in the mid twentieth century, as did the crime rate and police were unable to protect private property. Many organizations realized the value of protecting their personnel and property during this time. In 1955, the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) was formed and today is the beings largest organization of security professionals. ASIS continues to formulate security policy and direct security programs in a vast number of businesses, industries and government operations (Ortmeirer, 2009, pg. 11-12). In 1970, private security continued to grow and matched the number of police personnel at 500,000.In 1976, the Task Force Re port on Private Security was published and it was addressed for the first time that private security was an essential element to public safety. The Task Force recommended that the private sector be boost to nurture and improve the quality of security services and work with law enforcement to fight crime. This created an environment that saw the security industry continue to grow due to concerns over increased crime and limited law enforcement resources. By 1991, the number of security personnel had nearly tripled that of law enforcement and by the year 2000, private security personnel numbers rose to two million, clearly showing private security is the primary protective service (Ortmeirer, 2009, pg. 6-7, 13).FutureThe private security industry has made giant steps since the nineteenth century. It is clear from history that the private security industry must continue to complement the public police forces by providing innovative and needed support to industry and government. It mus t maintain and constantly improve upon its procedures and training, to keep the respect of the public, which it currently commands. It must above all remain one step ahead in todays technological world, as M. Lipson (1988) stated, The history of the ancient craft of private security may be illustrative of opportunities for those of the industry with foresight (Lipson, 1988). It is crucial private security continue with its current expertise in antiterrorism and computer security operations. It is also imperative private security continue to foster the close, post-911relationships that were developed with law enforcement, from federal to state to local police agencies, to successfully move into the future.ReferencesJoh, E.E. Frankenstein - Golden Mean Archetype Essay Example for Free
Frankenstein Golden Mean Archetype EssayThrough step to the fore the last few chapters we generate been reading, the perspective of our monster has shifted tremendously. At first, we viewed the cock as frightening and menacing. As the story continues, we base our view on the monster due to Victors aggressive behavior towards the creature, fashioning us pity the poor monster as he has done nothing wrong he is just lost in a refreshful world, possibly experiencing culture shock. Now the creature is venturing out into the world, interacting with people other than Victor. for I never ventured abroad during daylight, fearful of meeting with the same treatment I had formerly endured in the first village which I entered (106).After the monster encounters humans, people give the same reaction fear. The monster comes baring no harm, barely in fright, the citizens of the village run from him, scared of what might happen to them. This starts his increasing grudge against the humans. First, Victor rejects his appearance, oblivious to the being on the inside, now, complete strangers are neglecting him. His stamina in steadily growing. Was man, indeed, at once so powerful, so virtuous and magnificent, yet so vicious and base? (107).After learning more register from his protectors, the creature is now questioning the characteristic change in man over the course of time. Back then, a creature of his nature might have been accepted, precisely now he is feared for his sole appearance. These events capture the imbalance in the golden mean because now the monster, once emotionally stable with his existence, is getting withal angry and furious with the human race. The monster is now resembling Victor. Although he might not notice it, the monster is showing a strong connection amid him and his creator through his actions. Both are seeking revenge and acting out through their anger. Now that the monster has built up the courage to demo the old blind man, by the name o f De Lacy, he waits until Felix, Agatha, and Safie have left. He does not want to frighten them. Unfortunately, as he tries to speak with De Lacy, Felix and the others return. Upon Agatha fainting, and Safie running out of fear, Felix darted forward, and with supernatural force tore me from this father, whose knees I cung in a transport of fry, he dashed me to the ground and struck me violently with a stick (123-124). The creature viewed the family and his own his protectors. If they acted that way towards him, surely everyone else would too. Now, the monsters revenge further increased. Soon enough, the creature is going to snap and lose control of his emotions. There is calm down some decency inside of the monster though. After witnessing an innocent girl downing, he saves her, despite his arising hate for humans. As a man comes and thinks that the monster is harming the girl, he shoots the creature, who had only tried to help. The feelings of kindness and gentleness which I had e ntertained but a few moments before gave place to hellish rage and gnashing of teeth. Inflamed by pain, I vowed eternal hatred and vengeance to all mankind (130).The spark inside of the monster triggers and rage flows through his body. Anger and revenge seep in and he now despises all human beings. The creature has terminated all tolerance for human beings, due to the everlasting hate he obtains from creatures so very kindred to him. The golden mean has been violated extensively through the mistreatment of this poor creature. He has been nothing but joyous towards mankind, but in return he receives hate and pain, literally. The monster has no more patience or hope for the overturning emotions from humans. This eventually develops the motive for Williams murder, confessing to Victor the deviant act of not only the murder, but also of framing Justine.
